James Lagares was born in Gibraltar in 1929. James Lagares is a natural story teller and his interview is a vivid memoir of his evacuation to London from 1941- 1945. His father was a pharmacist, and after being separated from the family when they were initially evacuated to French Morocco, insisted on the family staying together when they were evacuated to London. Mr Lagares senior managed a pharmacy in London during the war which was a focal point for the exiled Gibraltarian community.
